About Me

Welcome to my home page. I hope you find the educational information and links useful. I would like you to use the home page as a tool to raise your awareness of mental health issues in adults, children, and adolescents. Perhaps the information will also raise questions that can initiate discussion during our follow-up appointments.

I truly believe in teamwork, and I think that by educating my patients and their families, we can work more efficiently as a team. I appreciate the opportunity to serve my patients and to help you be active in your own care.

Now let me share with you a little about myself. I knew from a very early age that I would choose medicine as my career. I remember playing "Doctor" when I was very small. As I grew older, my desire to help others and take care of them became stronger. I went to medical school in my home country, and came to the US for advanced training. I chose the field of psychiatry because it is one of the specialties that emphasizes and values the relationship between mind and body, and provides the doctor the opportunity to be a good listener and to heal the soul while listening. My interest in child psychiatry as a subspecialty was based on my belief in education and prevention. I wanted to be able to reach people, especially children early in life and their families, to make a bigger difference.

I have worked at Kaiser Permanente since 1995. Working here has provided me a practice setting that I have found very useful and almost essential for psychiatry practice. I work with highly qualified and experienced colleagues in my own department, and in my facility at Vacaville, as a team. We have the full support of our organization as we strive to act in the best interest of our patients.

A few words about my personal life: I am happily married and I have two sons and one daughter, all grown up and successful. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I like learning, teaching, traveling, outdoor recreational activities, swimming, skiing, and music.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
