My Biography

Anesthesiology is not only my profession, but my passion. Taking patients through the stressful experience of undergoing surgery, and doing it in a compassionate, skillful manner requires more than just science; the art of providing individualized anesthetic care is a significant component. Areas of particular import to me include vascular, obstetric, and pediatric anesthesia.

I believe strongly in Kaiser Permanente’s health care delivery model and the overall mission of providing excellent comprehensive and preventative care for our patients. At San Francisco Medical Center, I get to work with patients undergoing a broad variety of surgeries, alongside our department’s high-caliber doctors and nurse anesthetists. Kaiser’s health care model provides one-stop shopping for all of our members’ medical needs. We pride ourselves on having a “patient first” philosophy, always striving to do what is in our patients’ best interests. Being lucky enough to have lived and trained in San Francisco since 1993, I feel like a native and can’t imagine working anywhere else.

I’m an artist. My favorite medium is acrylics. My husband Andrew Posselt is a Transplant Surgeon at UCSF (where we met during our residency training). We have two amazing kids, Luke and Liana, who keep us busy and young at heart. I’m very interested in meditation, mindfulness, and in being healthy physically, spiritually, and mentally. I love to workout at The Bar Method, which is a workout system that integrates interval training, isometrics, and dance conditioning. I believe in meditation for spiritual fitness, exercise and healthy eating for physical fitness, and practicing medicine to feed my soul and my brain.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
