Welcome to my home page. I am Eva M. Sagvold-Harriman, a licensed clinical social worker, in the Department of Psychiatry at Kaiser, South Sacramento.

I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, and remain fluent in Swedish. I completed my Masters degree in Social Work at the University of Stockholm, Sweden, in 1975. I have been licensed by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences as an LCSW since 1981, License #8819.

Previous clinical experience includes psychotherapy with children and adolescents, both in inpatient and outpatient settings, in the Sutter and Mercy Hospital systems. Adult psychotherapy, individual, family and group, and work with victims of sexual abuse and other trauma.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1995, starting out on the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Team. From there, I moved to the Adult Team, focusing on Crisis Services; and participated in the implementation of the South Sacramento Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) as well as in the development of eating disorder groups and later on, the Eating Disorder IOP.

I am currently the Manager of the South Sacramento Kaiser IOP. Because of my interest in trauma work, I am also a member of the Kaiser Critical Incident Stress Management Team and the Psychological Lead for the Department of Psychiatry in the event of a critical incident.

Clinical Interests: I have a special interest in Disaster Mental Health and Crisis Counseling. I am a firm believer in the power of the group process and the human capacity for recovery, compassion, and optimism.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
