My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a pediatric cardiologist. I take care of kids with heart conditions or complaints related to the heart. I also take care of pregnant mothers carrying a baby with potential heart problems and adults born with heart abnormalities. I decided to do this because I like working with children – see them develop and grow into adults. Working with children keeps me grounded and makes me feel younger.

My Practice Philosophy

“Nothing about you without you.” I remember hearing this and it makes sense. I am your partner in you and/or your child’s health and I believe that you should know everything that pertains to you and/or your child. I will not order a test, talk about you or treat you without your involvement and consent. Two-way communication is very important.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I am a recent addition to the Kaiser Permanente Family. I am so far satisfied. I am not a businessman. I do not relish taking care of the back office nor looking at the financial bottom line. Kaiser Permanente gives me the chance to do what I do best – take care of its members.

On a Personal Note. . .

I have been privileged to practice medicine. I enjoy every bit of it and it is a part of me. I also enjoy my family immensely. I have been trying to reconcile the demands of both job and family, and hopefully, my current work environment will help me achieve a balance.

I was born and raised in the Philippines and did all my training after medical school here in the U.S. I have been fortunate enough to train in great institutions and live in many parts of the US. My wife and I have been blessed with a daughter. My wife enjoys the outdoors, my daughter enjoys reading and I enjoy whatever time I can spend with both. We all enjoy skiing.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
