About Me

I was born and raised in San Francisco and recently moved to San Mateo. I have been a lifelong San Francisco 49er, Giants, and believe it or not, Golden State Warriors fan. After completing my undergraduate studies at University of California, Davis, and medical school degree at St. George's University, I entered the field of Internal Medicine. I finished my internship and residency at Alameda County Medical Center/Highland Hospital and became board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2003. Prior to joining the Hospital Based Specialists at The Permanente Medical Group in Redwood City in 2004, I practiced as a Hospitalist physician at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. I am a member of the American College of Physicians, Society of Hospital Medicine, and the American Medical Association.

As a Hospital Based Specialist, I see patients who require a hospital admission. I enjoy my specialty because I am able to treat patients' presenting disease and evaluate their health as a whole. When caring for patients in the hospital, I make a point to discuss the treatment plans and options with each person and/or family member. I also try my best to ensure that each person has an understanding of the disease and the preventative measures prior to being discharged.

Being a member of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Staff has been an enjoyable experience thus far because of the caring nurses, friendly staff, and excellent colleagues I work with.

Outside of the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my wife Serena, an optometrist at Seton Medical Center and my family. I also enjoy watching and participating in most sports (football, baseball, golf, SCUBA). I love to travel and read travel books.

Please use the links on the left-hand side on my webpage for helpful information regarding our hospital and my specialty.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
