About Me...

Thank you for visiting my home page. I appreciate this opportunity to offer some information on my background to my patients. I decided to become a doctor as a first-grader growing up in a rural province of the Philippines. My friend had cut her finger, and I had the responsibility of taking her to the doctor. I was amazed at how the doctor instantly stitched up my classmate’s finger and stopped the bleeding. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to perform the same kind of miracles for other people.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in February of 1979 and became Chief of Nuclear Medicine in 1980. This year is my 29th anniversary with Kaiser in San Jose. I have been board-certified in Nuclear Medicine by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine since 1979. I am experienced in all aspects of general Nuclear Medicine, and particularly in Nuclear Cardiology. I am a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and the Santa Clara County Medical Association. In addition, I am also a member of the Philippine Medical Society of Northern California, through which I serve as a volunteer doctor on medical missions to impoverished, rural areas of the Philippines. In addition to English, I am fluent in Tagalog and Kapampangan. I also understand and speak a little Spanish.

My two sons, Shane and Emil, are both out of college and are pursuing immigration law and media broadcasting, respectively. Tony, my husband of 26 years, has retired from the shipping business and shares my interest in travel, food, and wine.

My philosophy of care

As the director of Nuclear Medicine, I encourage all members of my staff to treat all patients as if they were members of their own family. I take it as my serious responsibility to deliver the best quality of service to both physicians and patients alike. I am always available to help in deciding the most appropriate test. My constant goal is to provide the most relevant, accurate, nuclear medicine test results in the shortest time possible, either by phone or by formal report.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
