My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). This means I am a registered nurse with further education, training, and credentialing to be able to provide prenatal and postpartum care in the clinic as well as attend births of low-risk patients. I was an odd child, fascinated from a very young age with pregnancy and birth and feel like midwifery chose me as opposed to the other way around. Every day I feel that I am doing what I was meant to do. It is such an honor to be a part of a woman’s amazing passage into motherhood. I cannot imagine a more rewarding and fulfilling career.

My Practice Philosophy

As a nurse-midwife I believe in pregnancy and birth as fundamentally normal and healthy processes. My focus is on wellness and preventive care while always maintaining a watchful eye for potential concerns. Whether you are experiencing your first pregnancy or further expanding your family, there are a lot of choices to be made regarding your health and care during this period. My objective is to provide you with the information and support you need to make well-informed decisions. Ultimately, it is my intention to provide you with a positive and healthy experience as well as the opportunity to approach your pregnancy, birth, and motherhood with a sense of empowerment and confidence.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2008, having previously worked in private practice. I am thrilled to have joined such an outstanding group of midwives and physicians. I currently work out of the Roseville clinic and at our beautiful Women and Children’s Center, also located in Roseville.

Why I Like Practicing Midwifery at Kaiser Permanente

In my time with Kaiser Permanente I have come to appreciate how comprehensive and well-integrated our various services are. When they are needed, consults and referrals are simple and care between clinic and hospital settings is nearly seamless thanks to computerized health records. I am also pleased that we offer such a wide array of educational and support services to our patients, especially during the exciting but often challenging experiences of pregnancy and new parenthood.

On a Personal Note

I am originally from the Bay Area. I spent seven years on the East Coast attending school and beginning my career as a midwife. I am very pleased to be back close to my family now. I currently live in Davis with the loves of my life—my husband and son. We share our cozy home with three psychotic cats. I periodically subject an orchid to a slow and painful death but fare better with the plants in my garden. As a good little Davis-ite I do, in fact, wear Birkenstocks, have a compost pile, ride my bike a lot, and cloth diaper my baby.
