My Specialty and Why I Chose It

As an anesthesiologist, I am in charge of optimizing your surgical experience by making sure that safety and comfort are of highest priority. I decided to become an anesthesiologist because I enjoy delivering a safe anesthetic to patients in the operating room, labor and delivery, and sedation procedure rooms. My practice consists of working with the surgical subspecialties of neurosurgery, vascular, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT, general, and others.

My Practice Philosophy

I believe the field of anesthesiology has evolved to become a field of perioperative medicine. It is not only important to optimize each patient before surgery, but also to ensure that the patient does well intraoperatively, postoperatively, and when the patient is home during recovery.

My Credentials

Medical school University of Connecticut, Farmington, CT
Internship Highland General Hospital, Oakland, CA
Residency Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT
Board certification Anesthesiology, American Board of Anesthesiology

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I've been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 2006. Since joining, I have served as Director of the Perioperative Medicine Clinic, which prepares and optimizes each patient for surgery. Our team not only manages healthy stable patients, but also sees medically complex patients and applies clinical based guidelines to conditions (such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease) in preparation for the perioperative process.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

At Kaiser, having a computer database with a patient's record readily available is wonderful. Like you, I value my time, and being able to communicate with both patients and other specialty consultants makes for a very efficient and convenient process. That being said, I also value a patient's desire for a face to face meeting with an anesthesiologist prior to surgery.

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

  • American Society of Anesthesiologists
  • California Society of Anesthesiologists

On a Personal Note…

I am originally from Connecticut and moved out to Sacramento because my husband's family is from this area. Although I miss the spring and autumn of New England, I am enjoying the year-round playground of the Sacramento area. I enjoy running and yoga, although my main interest these days is raising our children.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
