My Name is Erick Hjortsvang and I’m an Oncologist at Kaiser San Rafael. As a physician who treats patients dealing with cancer my colleagues and I owe those under our care the utmost in medical advance and expertise. I became an Oncologist for several reasons, a few personal and a few professional. Oncology in general is a specialty in need of valuable practitioners and I feel this is where I can do the most good and help effect a positive change for my patients and community. I enjoy the patient population that I deal with, and perhaps most importantly, I like doing it. I am a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology as well as the American Society of Hematology.

I grew up in Martinez and attended UC Santa Cruz. I am very happy to be back in the Bay Area after several years of education elsewhere. I know this might get me in trouble but I’m an unrepentant Raiders fan! While away from my practice I enjoy all forms of exercise and primarily concentrate on lifting weights and running. I also love traveling and relish trips to Hawaii.

I joined the medical group in the summer of 2006. I’m proud to be associated with the dedicated physicians and staff that we have in this department, and facility wide. Kaiser has a great system in place that helps us, as physicians, deliver the best possible care to our membership and community. I’m proud to be a part of it.
