How to Use My Home Page...

Hello and Welcome To My Home Page!

I hope that you are able to find information here that will help you live your life to its full potential. My home page is relatively new, so if there's something you'd like to see here let me know.

First, I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. I am an internist, or an adult doctor, who specializes in the care of the hospitalized patient. I am what is called a hospitalist. Hospitalists work with a variety of other doctors, including your primary care provider, to get you through an illness and back to your community. Doctors that I work with include medical subspecialists (cardiologists, gastroenterologists, etc.), surgical subspecialists (cardiovascular surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, etc.), doctors in training (residents, interns) and allied health professionals (nurses, physical therapists, physician assistants, nutritionists, etc.). It has been my job to coordinate my patient's care with all of these professionals for the past eight years. I enjoy my job immensely and feel that I am able to guide my patients and their families through rough terrain that I have seen before.

Peruse the links on my home page. These links will provide further guidance on your journeys. I must frankly state, however, that the majority of the diseases that I care for are the result of tobacco use and poor nutrition. Click on the links on the left-hand side of this page to learn what Kaiser has to offer to help you STOP smoking and to EAT properly and maintain a healthy weight.

On a personal note, please check out the Advanced Directives link. Everyone needs an Advanced Directive and a Health Care agent in the event that they are unable to make decisions for themselves. I've been a doctor since 1993 and only this year filled out my own Advanced Directive and named a Health Care Agent. It took the Terry Schiavo case in Florida and the birth of my son for me to finally fill out the necessary forms. I didn't want to burden my family with decisions or expensive lawyer and court fees in the event that I couldn't make my own decisions. I therefore strongly urge all of my patients and their family members to fill out an Advanced Directive and name a Health Care Agent.

Take good care of yourself! And, if you need us, we are here.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
