My role in the surgery clinic is to coordinate tests needed prior to surgery, to teach you about what to do to prepare for surgery and how to care for yourself after you have surgery. When you are scheduled to see your surgeon for a preoperative visit you will also meet with me for your preop teaching appointment.
I am a graduate from Saint Catherine’s School of Nursing, Quezon City, Philippines. I joined Kaiser Redwood City in 1972 and in my career have worked in various departments such as Labor & Delivery, Neonatal nursery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Medical Surgical Units.
I spent most of my Kaiser nursing career as an advice nurse and pre-op educator. In the Obstetric and Gynecology department, I was a case manager for infertility, gestational diabetes, ectopic, teen pregnancies, and thalassemia screening. Within the last few years, I joined the surgery clinic department as a charge nurse and now a pre-op nurse educator supporting the surgery clinic, urology, and orthopedic departments.
Kaiser has been a second home to me and the staff members have been like family. Kaiser Redwood City will always hold a special place in my heart as it not only serves the community, nor has it been a part of my career, but has been the very home where my two children and four grandchildren were born. It has been a true joy to work for an exceptional hospital that thrives in every way.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
