Welcome to my home page!  I hope that you will find the information here useful.  There are several links to information about eye problems and eye surgery in the column on the left.

If you need a refill of your medication, you can order it on line through the Pharmacy Center or by calling (916) 525-6040 for South Sacramento or (916) 478-5400 for Elk Grove.

For appointments, whether to make a new appointment or to change or cancel your existing appointment, please speak with one of our receptionists at (916) 525-6400.  If you have a question you can also e-mail me, but please note that e-mail should not be used for urgent issues, and sometimes we will still need to see you in person to determine a diagnosis or treatment plan.

I grew up in Oklahoma but crossed the Red River to attend the University of Texas at Austin for college.  I'm still torn when the two football teams play.  I majored in electrical engineering and enjoyed the analytical and problem-solving aspects of that work but decided to become a physician in order to work more directly with people.  I became an ophthalmologist because I was always fascinated by eyes and vision.  It is truly a privilege to take care of patients with conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.

I did my medical school and residency training at Yale, and it was a great place, but after many cold New England winters I sought refuge in California.  I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2007 and really appreciate that I get to work with wonderful colleagues and am able to focus on taking care of my patients without the distractions of running a private practice.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
