Welcome to My Home Page!

I began practicing in 1977, having now acquired 30 years experience as a clinician administering psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, formulating treatment plans, and providing psychotherapeutic services for adults, children and adolescents. My philosophy of care is eclectic because I use the combination of treatment modalities that I believe would be useful in the given circumstance. My skills include knowledge of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, behavior modification, rational-emotive, family, and play therapies. I also have training in motivational interviewing, attachment theory, substance abuse treatment, domestic violence and crisis intervention. Special clinical training I have received has been in the psychosocial issues related to chronic conditions. My second language is French and I am fluent enough to conduct therapy sessions in French per a client’s request.

In addition to clinical work, I am an educator who develops and teaches workshops on a variety of psychological and behavioral topics through the Center for Human Services at UC Davis. I also teach psychology classes at Diablo Valley College and San Ramon Valley Campus. Through the years, I have had the opportunity to present at both national and international conferences and have taught courses at a number of local colleges.

My personal interests include travel, films, theater, acting, dancing, jogging, ice skating, bicycling, reading fiction or historical novels, listening to jazz, and speaking French. I participate in community theater productions whenever I am cast in a role and have been fortunate to have performed several times at the Dean Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek as well as other venues in the East Bay.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
