Introduction
I chose to practice emergency medicine because I realized early in my training that I enjoyed helping people in their greatest need. The frightening nature of an emergency can be confusing to patients and it is my responsibility to help you navigate through your complex visit, while delivering the best medical care. I am also trained in family medicine; because while our emergency team will get you back to good health, it is equally important to understand the preventative follow-up care that will avert another emergency visit.
Background
I graduated from AT Still University in 2001. I then did a dual emergency medicine/family medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, New York, followed by a Master of Publich Health in health policy and management at Harvard University.
Over the past 4 years I directed a Center for Global Health at the New York Institute of Technology, establishing training programs and clinics and conducting research in Ghana, Haiti, Guatemala and Sierra Leone, to improve the lives of the disadvantaged and to reduce health inequities. I understand that a population’s health is a reflection of the quality of the system that cares for them and improving that health system is one of my passions. I believe that a comprehensive, well-integrated and value-oriented health system, like Kaiser Permanente, embraces these ideals.
Recommendations
I know that maintaining a good relationship means being able to communicate with each other and appreciating the time you take to be as healthy as you can be. Please be sure to logon and register at kp.org. This will make it easier for you and your family to get answers to your questions and take care of many of your health care needs. Because the better connected we are, the healthier you are.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
