My Background

My family grew up in Marin County so coming back to the Bay Area after training was coming home for me. I chose Kaiser Permanente as a career as it had the least conflict of interest and was all about care for its members. I loved the fact that the members and I had the same goal-- to keep them healthy.

My Specialty

I spent seven years after medical school training in Vascular Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, and Thoracic Surgery but chose to specialize in Vascular Surgery. I performed Thoracic Surgery from 1984 until 2002 but became too busy with Vascular Surgery to spread myself between specialties. I now practice with five wonderful Vascular Surgery colleagues: (Dr. Hua, Dr. Okuhn, Dr. Yano, Dr. Lukaszeiwcz, and Dr. O'Dorisio) and we co-manage all the patients for San Francisco, San Rafael, and South San Francisco. We also work with excellent Radiologists (Dr. Rego, Dr. Barry, Dr. Marder, Dr. Lai, and Dr. Kotton) who do some of the diagnostic tests with our group.

My Philosophy

I believe that both the patients and the doctors who treat them ought to have the same goals - - that is, to maintain health and offer preventive medicine to avoid situations which will lead to disability or diseases. I believe colleagues in my practice and my patients know that I am both available for them and eager to follow this path. My enjoyment from this practice comes from getting to know my patients as people and try to treat them as if they were a member of my family.
