My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a physical therapist with Kaiser Permanente. Physical therapists are experts in human movement and function. Physical therapists provide “hands-on” care to help patients regain lost movement and function as well as helping patients prevent injuries and disability. I chose physical therapy as a career because of the opportunities available to help people of all ages, with and without illness, to recover from injuries and improve their daily function and performance levels.

My Practice Philosophy

I believe the cornerstones of Physical Therapy are:

  • Physical therapy evaluation and development of an individualized treatment plan based on the findings of the evaluation.
  • Therapeutic exercise and manual techniques to improve strength and motion.
  • Functional training.
  • Patient education in home activities and exercises.

These are also the major components of my practice.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I’ve been part of Kaiser Permanente since 1979. I started at the Redwood City Medical Center and re-located my practice to Roseville in 1990. I value the comprehensive, quality care therapists can provide in the hospital and the out-patient settings with Kaiser Permanente. The coordination, communication and team-approach that therapists, physicians and other medical professionals have at Kaiser Permanente are unique among health care facilities.

My Professional Interests & Affiliations

I am currently the Director of Rehabilitation Services for the North Valley (Sacramento/Roseville). I am a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (Orthopedic Section and Administration Section) and the California Physical Therapy Association.

On a Personal Note

I am a California native born in Berkeley and raised in Redwood City, on the San Francisco Peninsula. I graduated from Baylor University and obtained my Physical Therapy degree from the University of Texas (Southwestern) Medical School in Dallas. After working several years as a physical therapist in a variety of settings including: the U.S. Army, a large medical center and rehabilitation center in San Jose, California, and a private practice in Carmel, California, I found the perfect job and professional opportunity for a physical therapist with Kaiser Permanente.

I reside in Roseville with my wife, son, and daughter.
