Hello, I'm Don Finegold, a gastroenterologist, at Kaiser Permanente, South Sacramento. I take care of patients who have problems involving the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver and pancreas.
I love this field of medicine because I find the gastrointestinal system to be fascinating. Having the opportunity to diagnose and treat GI disorders is both challenging and rewarding.
After spending time working at Kaiser during my medicine residency, I felt Kaiser provided a wonderful model for health care. I joined the medical staff at Kaiser Permanente in 1991. We have a team of well-trained physicians who share a common goal of practicing excellent evidence-based medicine, providing our members with some of the best care available.
When I am not at work, I enjoy biking along the American River Parkway, reading a good book, and exercising at the gym. Much of my free time is filled doing family activities with my wife and two daughters.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
