Welcome to My Home Page!

As a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), I am in a unique position to provide a high level of care and compassion in a very short amount of time. I was first attracted to nurse anesthesia as a surgical technician in the United States Air Force (USAF). It takes a special blend of knowledge and hands on skills to administer an anesthetic. Being a hands on kind of guy, this really interested me. I also like to think through complex problems, implement a plan, and make it happen. Each patient is so different phyically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and many other ways, that no two anesthetics are the same. This provides another welcome challenge to ensure each patient gets the anestheic best suited to their own individual needs.

Working for Kaiser Permanente in the Diablo Service Area provides a great venue for me to practice anesthesia in a way that compliments my abilities. We work as a team in a mutually respectfull, professional manner that breeds a climate of autonomy, knowing patient centered backup is available when needed. We truly build each other up which ultimately benefits the patient.

I started my education in the USAF going to nursing school part-time. I received my associate degree in nursing from Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. After receiving my commission in the Air Force I completed my bachelor's degree in nursing from Regents College in Albany, New York. The USAF then provided an opportunity to go to nurse anesthesia school and sent me to the University of Texas Health Science Center, Graduate School of Nursing in San Antonio, Texas, which is where I earned my master's of science in nurse anesthesia in 1991. After 20 years of military service, I retired as a Major in 1999.

Off duty, it should come as no surprise I enjoy home repair and remodeling. It is also a task requiring solving problems and fixing them with your hands. My own personal projects lead me to support Habitat for Humanity, an organization dedicated to assisting people achieve home ownership. I am also a Project Leader for Touch Local, a faith based organization providing hands on home repair assistance to those in need. In the summer, I enjoy small stream fly fishing. I also support Trout Unlimited in their efforts to restore and protect cold water fisheries. In the winter, I enjoy downhill skiing with my family in the Lake Tahoe area.
