I was born in Seoul, Korea, but moved to Guam when I was 3 years old. Guam is a very small island in the western Pacific Ocean. During my childhood to teenage years we moved and lived in many different places such as: Guam, Michigan, Upper Pennisula of Michigan, Arkansas, Oregon.

I am married and my wife Diane, a practicing dentist, have three children: Nisa, Nicholas and Jake. I enjoy sailing & boating and golf and attending my children’s soccer games.

My undergraduate training was finished with a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Finance and Economics from the University of Guam. I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2000, and completed my four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) at the Indiana University Medical Center and Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

After completing OMFS residency, I served as a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor at Indiana University School of Dentistry and enjoyed working with both dental students at the IU School of Dentistry and oral & maxillofacial surgery residents at IU University Medical Center, Riley Hospital for Children, Wishard Hospital and Methodist Hospital.

One of my goals after completing my residency was to serve my country. This goal was accomplished by joining the US Army Reserve. I have been a reserve officer since 2002 with the rank of captain and, most recently, completed a 6-month deployment to Fort Stewart, Georgia.

My surgical interests include Orthognathic surgery, Craniofacial reconstruction – congenital & post-trauma, Maxillofacial & Jaw reconstruction, Maxillofacial Trauma and TMJ surgery.

I joined Kaiser Permanente, because I have always wanted to do oral & maxillofacial surgery. Kaiser Permanente, being one on the top health care providers in the nation, provides me the opportunity to fulfill that dream. I am allowed to practice alongside top surgeons and physicians and take care of wonderful patients. My practice philosphy is simple. "Treat patients like my family and how I want to be treated as a patient."

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
