I was born in Vietnam and spent the first 13 years of my life there. My motivation to practice medicine stems from the experiences I had living in a third world country devastated by warfare. Witnessing people suffer from minor and common illnesses due to lack of medical understanding and lack of resources (in the form of supplies and health care providers) gave me a goal early on in my life to strive towards better health provision. When my family came to the United States in 1980, I had the opportunity to fulfill this dream by earning my medical degree in 1995.

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1998, and I am proud to continue serving Kaiser Permanente and its community. I enjoy reaching out to the community through giving medical talks at various community events, one example being discussing heart disease at a senior citizen meeting. Being bilingual has also allowed me to reach out to the Vietnamese community and other minority groups.

I am fortunate to be married to a wonderful woman and have two children, who keep me busy. Aside from spending time with my family, I play tennis, and enjoy the challenge of the outdoors through camping, skiing, and surfing.

I am a member of the American College of Physicians, the California Medical Association, and the Alameda Contra-Costa Medical Association.
