Welcome to my home page!
I joined Kaiser San Rafael in 1978 after completing three years of training in hematology/medical oncology at the University of California, San Francisco. Need I say I like it here? The world now recognizes the success of the Kaiser Health Plan, and my experience reinforces this fact. Our health plan offers virtually all the services needed in my practice, most of which are under one roof. Care is well coordinated by medical personnel who are all on the same team. In hematology/oncology we have access to clinical trials sponsored by prominent national study groups. In sum, I am pleased to say we offer state of the art care as part of a sophisticated health care system.
Medical science has evolved since 1978 and so have I. I am married with two daughters, one in college and one soon to graduate high school. We live in a 95-year-old house on the slopes of Bald Hill in San Anselmo; maintaining the house and garden provides great exercise and satisfaction. Our community is a close one - I enjoy knowing some patients as neighbors, or as friends of friends. Our relatively small medical center encourages personalized care as well. My experience with so many people over 25 years has deepened my understanding of humanity. My patients have taught me a great deal. My staff has broadened in number and diversity, and it is an honor to work with such capable people. Our specialty is a challenging one: we cannot cure everyone. But we can promote healing when we cannot cure, we can employ the scientific and community resources needed to support all patients, and we can de-mystify these complex illnesses while we help people cope with them.
Your comments and suggestions are always welcome, and I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
