My Medical Background

I was born in Spokane, Washington and was raised in West Virginia and California. I am Board Certified with the National Certification Board of Occupational Therapists. My specialty areas include Neurology and Geriatrics. I work in the Durable Medical Equipment Department as a clinical specialist evaluating members for custom wheelchairs and seating systems and also in the outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy Department. I am an active member of American Occupational Therapist Association and Occupational Therapist Association of California and also have several publications regarding Occupational Therapy. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, reading, swimming and traveling. I am married and have two adult children.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
