Thank you for visiting my home page. I hope you find the information listed here useful and easily accessible.

Why do you like being a doctor?

I enjoy helping people especially at a time of significant need. I find it rewarding to calm fears, relieve pain and suffering, and educate patients and their families about health problems and health maintenance. I enjoy the challenges of discovering the correct diagnosis of a patient’s problem, and explaining what is going on, in language that the patient and family can understand.

I enjoy the challenges, teamwork and camaraderie involved in getting the job done, working closely with nurses, technicians, clerks, and other assistants in the busy, intense environment of the emergency department.

What is your practice philosophy?

Treat each patient, family member and staff member as I would like to see myself or an immediate family member treated, with great communication, compassion, respect, and the most up-to-date standards of care.

Why did you choose your specialty?

Emergency medicine allows me to help patients at a time when they need help most, and allows me to be the first physician diagnosing and treating the patient’s emergent problem. I enjoy the variety and challenge involved in treating individuals of many different ages, cultural preferences, and ethnicities who come to the emergency department with a vast spectrum of medical, traumatic, and psychological needs.

What do you like about practicing medicine at Kaiser Permanente?

At Kaiser Permanente I get to focus my energies at what I am trained to do best — the practice of Emergency Medicine. Kaiser Permanente allows me to leave the concerns about finances and administration to business and policy administrators who are best trained to handle these issues. I appreciate being able to involve patients and family in decisions about medical care. The quality of the staff with whom I work is magnificent.

What languages do you speak?

I speak English and some medical Spanish.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spend time with my wonderful wife and children. Watch our children grow and explore the wonders of the world around them. Take our children to new places that are fun to explore together. Exercise, when there is time. Before marriage and children, I was an avid cyclist and dancer. Priorities, for obvious and good reasons, have changed now.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
