Hello and welcome to My Home Page!

I’ve been in subspecialty medicine since 2011, after completing medical school in New Orleans followed by seven years of residency and subspecialty training in Chicago.

I grew up in Roseville, California and later attended college at U.C. Davis where I graduated with a degree in physiology. I took two years off from school to do volunteer work with people with HIV and AIDS prior to moving to New Orleans to start medical school. After finishing fellowship training my wife and I decided to move to back California. I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente because it is a great place to practice high-quality medicine in a collegial environment.

My work includes both helping patients manage their lung diseases in our pulmonary clinics as well as caring for critically ill patients in our intensive care units. In addition to my fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care, I was a fellow at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics for two years, where I received advanced training in medical ethics and performed research that focused on how physicians help patients and their families navigate difficult decisions. My philosophical approach to medicine is that the best way to care for a patient is to care about the patient.

I am a Member of the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians and Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society.

My Credentials

Medical school Tulane University, New Orleans, LA
Residency University of Chicago Hospitals, Chicago, IL
Fellowship University of Chicago Hospitals, Chicago, IL
Board certification Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine
Board certification Pulmonary Disease, American Board of Internal Medicine

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
