Welcome to My Internet Home Page

Welcome to the Chronic Conditions Management Department of Kaiser Permanente Modesto. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner and Cardiovascular Risk Manager in the Diabetes / PHASE (Prevent Heart Attacks and Strokes Everyday) Program. I focus on preventive care to keep patients healthy and to prevent heart attack, stroke, kidney disease and other complications.

In the Diabetes / PHASE Program, I treat Kaiser Permanente members in the clinic and by telephone. I provide information and guidance about diet, exercise, medications and nutritional supplements. I also prescribe medications and participate in classes given to Kaiser Permanente members. These classes focus on diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, diet, exercise, medications and the prevention of heart disease and stroke.

About Me

I am from Detroit, Michigan and completed my Registered Nurse training at Mercy School of Nursing of Detroit, Michigan. My undergraduate degree was completed at California State University, Stanislaus and my nurse practitioner training and masters degree were completed at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California. I am board certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center / American Nurses Association. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002.

I have lived in California since 1982. In addition to my work in diabetes / PHASE, I work occasional evenings in a family practice setting. I also provide adult and pediatric healthcare services as a volunteer at the Salvation Army Clinic in Lodi. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my partner, Mark. Our favorite activities include domestic and foreign travel, swimming, reading, hosting social events at our home and wine tasting.

My Philosophy of Care

Nurse practitioners are known for high patient satisfaction, being attentive to patients and placing an emphasis on health promotion and preventive health care. In the Diabetes / PHASE Program, I focus on preventive care as well as the treatment of diseases. I strive to provide healthcare services that are of the quality and thoroughness nurse practitioners are known for providing.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
