To My Patients:

Welcome to my Internet Home Page. Thank you for your interest and taking the time to learn more about me and the Radiology Department at Kaiser Permanente Stockton. There are a number of links to clinical information, as well as a link to the web sites of other members of our department. You can even use this site to refill prescriptions, or request an appointment with your personal physician.

About Me

I was born in Takoma Park, Maryland and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. While in high school I decided to pursue a career in medicine. I was inspired by my family doctor and the TV program Marcus Welby, M.D. Physicians were highly esteemed and respected in our society. They helped save lives, relieved suffering, gave reassurance, and provided comfort in time of loss. I wanted to help people and thought medicine would be the most satisfying career I could pursue.

I completed my pre-medicine courses at Pacific Union College and graduated in 1980 with a B.S. in Biochemistry. After which I attended medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine graduating in 1985. I completed internship training at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, California in 1986. In July 1986, I entered active duty in the United States Air Force and was assigned to Langley Air Force Base in southeast Virginia. I was an emergency room physician for three years and I was a flight surgeon for one year during this assignment. As a flight surgeon, I had the experience of flying in various aircraft to better understand the work environment of my pilot patients including the F-15.

From 1990 to 1994, I completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia. Following residency, I relocated to Northern California, and was assigned to Beale Air Force Base as Chief of Radiology. After I separated from the Air Force, I completed a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at the University of Florida in 2000. I was in private practice in Florida and Georgia until 2003.

I learned about job opportunities with The Permanente Medical Group while attending the Annual Radiological Society of North America Meeting in Chicago in 2002. The expertise of a large integrated medical group in Kaiser Permanente appealed to me. The ability to practice in a collegial environment and being able to focus on the practice of medicine rather than the business aspects of medicine appealed to me. I joined Kaiser Permanente in Stockton in June 2003 and have felt blessed to be able to practice here.

I have been married to my wonderful wife Sharon since 1981. We have been blessed with three children: Matt, Laura, and Michael, which range in age from 18 to 22. Besides spending time with my family, I enjoy the great outdoors: playing golf, backpacking, photography, and various water sports.
