Comfort during high-risk pregnancies

As a high-risk specialist in maternal and fetal medicine, I often deal with difficult and challenging situations. My goal is to give the best, personalized care possible and put my patients at ease even though we’re dealing with complex problems. I diagnose using ultrasound and amniocentesis. The equipment is getting more sophisticated all the time. It truly helps us make a positive impact in the lives of mothers and babies, and that’s very exciting.

I am a native Californian, born in San Diego, raised in Oakland, and educated and trained in the Bay Area and greater Los Angeles. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1995 and now live in Oakland with my wife, daughter and son. I enjoy spending time with my family and watching sports. I’m a licensed pilot and have flown to the Caribbean and the East Coast many times. I speak Spanish fairly well and can usually work without a translator.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
