Welcome to my homepage and to the Department of Behavioral Medicine at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center. I hope you find useful information about me, my practice philosophy, as well as some useful links on the left hand side of this page.

About Me

A Bay Area native, I received my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego in 2005. I completed my predoctoral internship at Sharp Rees-Steely in San Diego and my postdoctoral internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.

Presently, I work with adults in primary medicine on life stressors, including chronic medical conditions, that have led to feelings of depression, anxiety, grief, sleep problems, and other issues in a brief therapy model. I am located in One North.

My Interests

Outside of my clinical interests, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and taking advantage of the cultural and outdoor opportunities in the surrounding Bay Area. I have particular interests in yoga, mountain biking, running, tennis, hiking, and attending sporting and concert events.

My Philosophy of Care

I believe that in order to achieve total wellness and/or improve their quality of life, each person is responsible for their mind-body health. In seeking to achieve optimal health, I believe a journey ensues in which a collaborative process between a patient and his or her physician and/or mental health provider is important, as it forms the cornerstone to allow for change. As an individual, I strongly believe you are an expert on your own life experiences, current symptoms, and use of coping strategies that have been helpful. If you were to work with me, I fully respect your life experiences and decisions, and hope together we might be able to help you identify and achieve your personal goals while using my expertise on various forms of mental health treatment.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
