Welcome to My Home Page!

After being born in Oakland, I moved to Pittsburg while very young and did all of my K-12 schooling there. After finishing high school, I attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where I finished my undergraduate studies and then moved back up to northern California to attend Touro University - Mare Island for my graduate degrees. My clinical rotations while at Touro took me down to Bakersfield and Kern Medical Center where I learned trauma orthopedics first hand.

I came onboard in Orthopedics at Kaiser Permanente in August of 2007, and I work primarily out of our new Antioch Medical Center. I have a particular interest in total joint replacement and trauma orthopedics, which we see a lot of in the very active east Contra Costa County. Kaiser Permanente Orthopedics subscribes to many of the same philosophies that I do such as in patient education, preventive medicine, and involving the patient and clinician to make decisions together regarding treatment regimes.

On a personal note, I am very active outside of Kaiser Permanente in softball, golf and winter sports. I am also currently serving in the United Stated Army as a Captain and in 2011 was in Iraq as a medical officer in Support of Operation New Dawn. I was deployed to several areas of the country including Al Asad where I was attached to a Combat Support Hospital, Basrah where I was the orthopedic specialist for a Troop Medical Clinic and Besmaya where I was the sole provider at a Battalion Aid Station. During the deployment my skills were sharpened by the opportunity to practice combat medicine. I come from a large family which is deeply rooted in public service both in medicine and law enforcement in the East County.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
