My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a physician assistant (PA) within the Department of Orthopedics. As a PA, I see patients in the clinic and hospital and assist with operative procedures. I assist in the care of all patients that enter our department no matter which physician you are assigned to.

Credentials

B.S., Exercise Science University of California, Davis
P.A., Physician Assistant Program Western University of Health Sciences

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy is driven on developing a clear line of communication between myself and the patient. This begins with the patient being educated on the orthopedic problem they have been presented with and how to treat it or prevent it from reoccurring. If a patient is able to go home and explain what is wrong with their knee, shoulder, elbow, etc. to a family member, then I feel that I have done my job.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I came to Kaiser Permanente in 2007 from San Diego. Although I have been a Kaiser Permanente health care provider for short time, I've come to appreciate the camaraderie between providers. All providers are driven to provide the best possible care to our members.

On a Personal Note. . .

I am originally from Fremont, California. After attending UC Davis in 1996, I worked/volunteered at various medical clinics in the Bay Area. I spent time as a physical therapist aide for Health South Physical Therapy Clinics and volunteered at a small rural clinic in Half Moon Bay which provided healthcare to migrant farm workers. Just prior to attending PA school, I worked for Stanford's Orthopedic Department as well.

I graduated from the Physician Assistant Program in 2001 and moved to San Diego. Of my 6 years as a PA, I have worked 4 years in orthopedics and 2 years in pain management.

Recently, my family and I moved back to Northern California in order to be closer to family. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two kids, running, road and mountain biking, racing in triathlons, and adventure races.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
