I went into the field of psychology in order to help people find a way to cope with emotional pain and suffering in a way that is uniquely suited to them. Working in the inpatient rehabilitation environment is inspiring, as most of the patients make tremendous progress towards achieving their goals, and develop excellent skills for coping with emotional difficulties along the way.

My practice philosophy combines a mixture of practical teaching and empathic understanding. I try to meet patients where they are at emotionally, and work within that frame. My ultimate goal is to help patients learn how to manage difficult emotional states.

The resources available at Kaiser Permanente make it a truly great place to work. The interdisciplinary team approach on the Rehabilitation unit is key in providing the best possible care for patients. It is also helpful to be able to consult easily with other medicine specialties within our facility, and centralized records make it very easy to keep up to date on all aspects of patient care.
