I am a board certified Genetic Counselor. Genetic counselors are health professionals with specialized graduate degrees and experience in the areas of medical genetics and counseling. Genetic counselors identify families at risk for birth defects or genetic disease, investigate the problem present in the family, interpret information about the disorder, and analyze inheritance patterns and risks of recurrence and review available options with the family. Genetic counselors also provide supportive counseling to families, serve as patient advocates and refer individuals and families to community or state support services.

My Biography

I grew up in the East Bay Area. After receiving my undergraduate degree, I worked in the fields of exercise physiology and provided services to adults with developmental disabilities. I also spent time traveling. I then attended UC Berkeley’s Genetic Counseling Program to earn my graduate degree.

I joined the Kaiser San Jose Genetics Department in 1996. I enjoy my work with both pediatric and adult patients. My interests include working with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. I am also the genetic counselor for the Craniofacial Clinic at Kaiser Santa Clara, one of Kaiser Genetics’ many specialty clinics. I have some knowledge of Spanish and hope to improve these skills.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring both local and far away places with my husband and children. Our most recent trips were to Peru and the Philippines.

I want to be certain that all of your concerns are addressed. If you forget to ask a question during your visit, you are welcome to call me at (408) 972-3310. My office hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until 5:00pm.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
