At Kaiser Permanente I am a member of the anesthesia care team. It is a great group of individuals working together to administer quality patient care. I am proud to be a member of this team. I hope to make your planned surgery and anesthetic safe, less stressful, and as pleasant as possible.
About Me
I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. I spent most my childhood in Illinois. I decided to pursue a career in nursing because I enjoyed the sciences and working with people. I have worked in a variety of hospital settings. The majority of my nursing career was spent at Long Beach Memorial Hospital Regional Trauma Center. I worked there for numerous years caring for trauma victims, open heart and neurosurgery patients, plus periodic Charge Nurse. These were invaluable, memorable and rewarding years of my nursing career. At that time I also attended California State University at Long Beach and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN). Upon graduation, I bought an Around-the-World airline ticket and traveled for the next year and a half. It was wonderful experiencing the diversity of the world and seeing how we all strive, but differently for the same things - family, friends, health, and happiness.
I briefly returned to Southern California but then relocated to the Bay Area. After working at numerous hospitals in the east bay through a nursing registry, I chose to take a staff position in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kaiser Permanente Oakland. It was, and still is, a teaching facility which offered a dynamic learning environment. After a brief time as a staff nurse, I was offered and accepted the Assistant Nurse Manager position of three ICU units - surgical, medical & telemetry. While in this position I became acquainted with Nurse Anesthetists. I observed them in the units and recovery room. I thought what a great job! They were utilizing technical skills, it was intellectually stimulating and they had direct patient contact. After a year of management I realized I missed the day to day direct patient contact. So, I applied and was accepted to the Kaiser Permanente Nurse Anesthesia program in Los Angeles. I remained in Southern California for a year after graduating and worked as a staff Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Kaiser Permanente in Panorama City. I longed to be back in the Bay Area. I transferred to Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek where I have been a staff CRNA for the last ten years. It is a very rewarding (great) job!
When not at work I spend time with family and friends. I have a Pharaoh hound that is a bundle of energy and a complete joy. I am an avid cyclist and have completed numerous long distance endurance events. I have been a participant, mentor and cycling coach with Team in Training for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society the past several years. I also enjoy mountain biking, skate skiing, cooking, reading, and photography. I still enjoy traveling.
Health and Happiness!

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
