Welcome to my home page. I practice comprehensive ophthalmology dealing with the medical and surgical diseases affecting the eyes and surrounding tissues. I chose ophthalmology as a profession because I found the visual system to be so incredibly fascinating and complex and because so many patients are remarkably appreciative of the importance and wonder of being able to see. I receive great satisfaction in helping patients take care of their eyes and their vision.

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1999 and enjoy the professional comraderie and the integrated multidisciplinary approach to practicing medicine found here. Outside of Kaiser, I have an interest in medically underserved communities and have had the privilege of working with my family in providing eye care in such communities in Mexico, Nicaragua, Chile, Kenya and the U.S.

My family is one of my great passions; and when I have the chance, you can find me bicycling along the American River, hiking in the Sierras or enjoying one of the many areas of interest in the greater Sacramento region with them.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
