Greetings and welcome to my Home Page!

The Kaiser Permanente Central Valley Department of Anesthesiology is an outstanding department, of which I am very proud to be a member of. My desire is that we, anesthesiologists, can always provide the best possible quality of care and service to you.

About Me

I was born in Sacramento, CA and raised in Vacaville, CA. I grew up in a small town where my dad was a pharmacist and owner of the Vacaville Drug Company, which had been a drug store for more than 100 years. I worked as a stock boy and delivery person at the company. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. I received my medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Loma Linda, CA. I finished an internship and did a residency in internal medicine at the University of California, School of Medicine at San Francisco, Fresno, CA. Afterwards, I completed my residency in anesthesiology from University of Vermont, Medical Center Hospital, Burlington, VT.

I chose to become a physician because I wanted to follow the footsteps of physicians who had significantly impacted my life. To me, being a physician is educationally demanding, which allows me to constantly grow in medical knowledge. By being an anesthesiologist, it is quite satisfying helping people at a most vulnerable time of their life. My medical interests include cardiovascular anesthesiology, airway management devices and medical and physician administration and preventative medicine.

Kaiser Permanente is an organization that puts patient care as the utmost priority. The organization has new facilities with exquisitely trained professionals. Kaiser Permanente provides a totally integrated system that provides whole patient care from birth to end of life, both in outpatient and inpatient settings. After 15 years in the Central Valley working as a member of a private practice anesthesia group, I decided to join Kaiser Permanente in 2008.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, photography, river trips and whitewater expeditions in North America. I am married to my lovely wife, Tammy and we have three children, Emily, Grant and Micaela.

My Philosophy of Care

I believe that it is a privilege to care for people in their time of need, and it is a privilege that I respect and honor. To me, providing anesthesia care is a tremendous responsibility. I treat all of my patients like they are my family members. I consider the whole person in my care and treatment of patients.

Our entire Anesthesiology Department and I want to be certain that all of your concerns are addressed. If you forget to ask a question during your pre-operative office visit, please call (209) 476-3633.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my home page, and I look forward to working with and for you!

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
