Welcome to My Website!

I would like to introduce myself to you. I am Dr. Cornelia von Koch and I am a Neurosurgeon. My special interests include spinal disorders and tumors of the brain and spinal cord. After growing up in Germany I completed my BSE degree in Bioengineering and my BA degree in Biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania and received my MD and PhD degrees at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. My strong interest in patient care, Neuroscience and the surgical approach to medicine guided me down the path of Neurosurgery. I completed my residency in Neurosurgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), which is one of the busiest residency programs in the country. During my residency I was awarded a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health to support post-doctoral research at UCSF. At the conclusion of my residency I joined the Neurosurgery faculty at UCSF as a Clinical Instructor and also completed a spine fellowship at UCSF.

I joined the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group and the Neurosurgical Service at Redwood City in 2005. I am very fortunate to work with an excellent group of neurosurgeons, nurses and support staff covering the wide spectrum of adult Neurosurgery.

I am a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Tumors.

On a personal note, I am fluent in German and in my free time I enjoy watching movies and the beautiful California outdoors.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
