Welcome to my home page!

My name is Cecily Martin and I am a registered nurse and social worker who specializes in psychiatric care. I’ve been with Kaiser Permanente since May of 1996. I am honored and privileged to work with such a dedicated group of clinicians and staff in San Rafael’s Department of Psychiatry. There are an abundant number of resources that, should the need arise, members have in helping to deal with various psychological issues and maladies. We are able to utilize a strong sense of team work within the department to take advantage of each others diverse experiences in ultimately deciding the best and most appropriate path of care for our patients. Besides my RN degree I attended Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia and earned an undergraduate degree in Sociology as well as a masters in Social Work.

My duties here in the psychiatry department are varied with a common emphasis towards continued and resourceful care for our local Kaiser membership. I help run and administer our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) This program is designed to assist patients, through a variety of means, in their quest to maintain psychiatric health within the community verses inpatient hospital care. I welcome you to read more about it. Additionally, and within this setting, I serve as a case manager for individuals with chronic issues that may need ongoing psychiatric attention. I also operate as a liaison for coordinating care for those in transition from inpatient care to that of outpatient management. This includes but is not limited to mapping out care plans and utilizing appropriate resources in efforts to ensure outpatient success.

I am especially proud of my opportunity and ability to lead the implementation effort of our Intensive Outpatient Program in San Rafael. The formula for success has been proven at other facilities. My colleagues and I have been able to utilize the blueprint it provides while likewise applying our ability to deliver the program in a manner appropriate to our local population’s needs.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
