Practice Philosophy

I strive to provide accurate and informative diagnoses in both surgical pathology and cytopathology.

About Me

I was born in Palo Alto and raised in San Jose, CA. I attended San Jose State University for my undergraduate education in Biology. I graduated from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2005. I did my Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Stanford Hospital and Clinics. I stayed on to complete two fellowships in Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology. I am board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2011. In addition to English, I am highly proficient in Spanish.

I am a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and the College of American Pathologists.

My Interests

Professionally, I enjoy meeting new patients, performing fine needle aspiration cytology and general surgical pathology.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband and child. I swim, garden, hike and camp when possible.

Recent Adventures

In the past, I have participated in a volunteer medical mission with the non-profit group Grounds for Health. They focus on bringing early cervical cancer detection and treatment services to rural coffee-growing communities in Latin America. As a cytopathologist, I would love to continue to participate in these types of missions in the future.

What I’m Reading and Browsing

I am currently studying for the Cytopathology Board Exam.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
