I’m a Bay Area native and 4th generation Californian. My fascination in science and medicine started early and continued into college were I obtained a Bachelors of Science degree, with a Major in Nursing. I graduated from San Jose State University in 1980.

After graduation I started with Kaiser Permanente in a program specializing in Emergency Medicine. Within my 13 years of emergency experience I held several roles; staff nurse, charge nurse, then in 1988-1993 the Clinical Nurse Educator for staff and patient education, as well as for a short time Acting Director of Emergency Services for Santa Clara Kaiser Permanente.
In 1993 the opportunity arose to develop, and open a Lipid Clinic in Redwood City Kaiser, for Cholesterol Management. My interest in direct patient care, prevention and teaching led me to become involved in what now is a national program at Kaiser. I’m proud to say the cholesterol management program has been an active partner in reducing patients risk for heart disease. I believe health care is a partnership in which we work together health care provider and the patient to see each individual develop the skills and knowledge for a healthier life.
I’ve also attended UCSF Gladstone Lipid Disorder Training program in 1993 and annually since.
When not at work I enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, traveling and cooking…usually low fat!
