Welcome to My Home Page!
I grew up in Shanghai, China, and earned my medical degree from Shanghai Second Medical University. After graduation, I decided to come to Unite States for advanced research training, which I completed five years later, with a Ph.D. degree on Cell Biology from the University of Connecticut Health Center, working on a project using rodent model for study of human hepatitis. Afterwards, I was trained as an internal medicine intern and resident at Yale-Norwalk Hospital at Norwalk, Connecticut, followed as a Gastroenterology fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, at Boston, Massachusetts. I also worked a year at Tufts- New England Medical Center as a hospitalist for the GI/liver transplant service.
My philosophy of medical care is putting patient’s interest in the center of the focus. This is the reason why I joined Kaiser Permanente. Besides that, I love the sunny California weather after years living in the Northeast with the harsh winters; however, I still remain a Red Sox fan!
My special interest is chronic liver diseases, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis and liver transplant. I am a member of the Kaiser Liver Transplant Advisory Board, which reviews all liver transplant cases for the Northern California Kaiser patients. Apart from that, I also take care of patients with general GI conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, and acid reflux.
I am a member of the American Association of Studies of Liver Disease and the American Gastroenterological Association. In addition to English, I am fluent in Madarin Chinese.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
