About Me

I was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Houston, Texas. I went to Baylor University in Texas for my bachelor’s of science degree, and then I went to Ross University School of Medicine for my medical education. For internal medicine residency training, I was working at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, New York. The residency program is affiliated with Mount Sinai School of Medicine. It's one of the busiest hospitals in New York City, so I gained a lot of experience during the residency training. I also got a chance to treat patients from all over the world as Elmhurst Hospital is located in a diverse area where people from many different parts of the world live. Thus I have seen some rare diseases that usually occur outside of the United States. I completed my three year residency program in 2005.

I have always wanted to be a doctor, from the time I was young kid in Hong Kong, because I enjoy helping people recover from their illnesses. I believe in a Chinese proverb that says, "prevention is better than cure." Nowadays, preventive medicine is very important as many diseases are preventable. Every time I see patients in my clinic, besides treating the sicknesses they present with, I always think of ways to prevent them from getting diseases in the future.

Why did I decide to move from New York to California to work for Kaiser Permanente? My friends from California told me a lot of great things about Kaiser Permanente. Then I got more information from a recruiter; I was interested in joining so I sent in my application and was offered interviews in a few different parts of the state. Among the clinics I had interviews with, the Pleasanton Medical Offices proved to be my number one favorite because somehow it made me feel like I had come home and I instantly knew that this is the clinic I was looking for. When I was offered a position to work at Pleasanton, I was more than happy to accept the offer!

The bottom line is that Kaiser Permanente provides quality care to the community, and that is why I joined this organization.

On a personal note, I enjoy traveling with my family. I also enjoy spending time with my friends. When I have spare time, I like to read medical journals, exercise at home (running on my treadmill), bowling, listening to music, and watching movies at home or in the theater.
