Welcome ... and thanks for visiting my home page!

My name is Christopher Lai and I work in the Kaiser Vallejo Emergency Department.

Why I became a physican?

I chose to become a physician to make a difference!!

Why I chose my specialty?

I chose emergency medicine because I enjoy the fast-paced environment and the opportunity to provide care when people need it the most.

My Philosophy on Healing

I believe you can minimize the severity of bad illnesses with early medical attention. Prevention, through communication with your primary care physician, is key, but I will always be happy to help you if you need additional medical attention.

If you aren't comfortable, we shouldn't be comfortable!

What I like about Kaiser Permanente?

Kaiser provides all the specialties at your fingertips. Someone will be able to help you with your health needs.

"Personal" interests

I have lived in various locations in the US while growing up - Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, New York, Colorado, and most recently Pennsylvania. I enjoy exploring new environments. I moved here from Pennsylvania after residency to follow my wife and enjoy the weather.

In my free time, I am an avid snowboarder, mainly moguls and back country, but I have recently been doing more freestyle. My favorite place to ride is Arapahoe Basin, though I throughly enjoyed Solitude and Squaw. If you have a good location, I'm willing to visit.

During the summertime, my wife and I enjoy scuba diving. I have even begun lessons in kite surfing, but I need several more seasons before I become competent.

My Credentials

Medical school Ohio State University College of Medicine, Columbus, OH
Residency University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA
Board certification Emergency Medicine, American Board of Emergency Medicine

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
