Welcome to my homepage

I have been attending births since 1997 and assisted hundreds of families in welcoming their new babies. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA (1998); a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA (2001) and a Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in Nurse Midwifery and Women’s Health, as well from the University of Pennsylvania (2003). I am board certified as a Nurse Midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board and as a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner. I received additional training as a doula (labor and birth coach) and a childbirth educator. I am an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives.

I was born in Tampa, Florida. I moved to Berkeley, California in 2007 with my husband and son. (Silas was born March 2006 into the hands of a midwife!) I enjoy spending time cooking using the amazing local produce, learning to garden in the bay area, yoga, sewing, baking, drinking tea, and exploring the parks, playgrounds and cultural attractions of the bay area.

The time surrounding the birth of a new baby is a great opportunity to learn and grow. My goal as a midwife is to support women and their families on their unique journeys through pregnancy and birth with information, hands on support, and respect for each family’s ideals. I hope to be a source of information and support to you during this time. I look forward to getting to know you, your family and your expectations for your ideal pregnancy and birth experience. Thank you for inviting me to participate in this amazing and dynamic time in your lives.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
