Thank you for choosing Kaiser Permanente as your health care provider. We have an excellent group of mental health providers in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic at Vacaville. Our goal is to provide the highest quality of psychiatric care to children and families. I have linked my home page to a number of helpful Websites that provide more information related to mental health.

About Me

I grew up in Chong Qing City, China. I began to think about a career in medicine in my teenage years when my father became really ill. I earned my MD degree in China, completed my residency training in obstetrics and gynecology, did three years of training in ovarian cancer research, and earned my master's degree in oncology. Upon graduation, I came to the United States at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for research training as a post-doctoral fellow.

I was offered a position at the cancer center as a junior faculty after I completed my fellowship training, but after three years in research, I came to the conclusion that I enjoyed direct patient care more than research. I chose psychiatry as my new specialty because I was always interested in interactions with patients, especially children and their families. I completed my general psychiatry and my child & adolescent psychiatry fellowship training in Galveston in 2000, and entered academic medicine by joining the faculty in the University of California Davis Medical Center in 2001.

I came to Kaiser Permanente in 2003 because I believed strongly in preventive medicine and personalized care, and I found a match for my beliefs with Kaiser Permanente¹s organizational practice philosophy. I am very happy that I become a part of the Kaiser Permanente family.

My professional interests include providing evaluation and treatment in the areas of disruptive, depressive, bipolar, and anxiety disorders. I am also interested in non-medication therapeutic intervention, although medication treatment is a major part of my daily patient care.

I am very active in the community, where I am a volunteer assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at University of California Davis Medical Center, and a board member of the Organization of Chinese Americans, Sacramento Chapter. In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, who also wants to be a child psychiatrist. I am a huge fan of both the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets, and watch almost every game. I like to collect stamps and I have a collection of rare stamps that I inherited from my father. I also enjoy traveling to different parts of the world.
