Welcome to My Internet Home Page

Welcome to my home page! My name is Cheryl Smith-Carroll and I am your Early Start Specialist / Women's Health counselor. I am pleased to be able to offer you direct links and information to valuable and helpful health information.

About Me

I was born in Redwood City, CA and raised in the Bay Area and Modesto. I received my undergraduate education in sociology and thereafter obtained my Master of Science degree in psychology/ counseling at California State University, Stanislaus. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 36055) and I am a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, CADCII (A8534804).

I started as an alcohol and drug counselor in 1981. I then became a mental health clinician in 1990. I promoted to a manager in children and family services in 1996. I have been in private practice since 2004. My life’s work has been in residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment, mental health and children and families outpatient treatment services for Stanislaus County. My specialty is in addictions. My passion is working with substance abusing women and helping them make the lifestyle changes necessary for their recovery from addiction and to deliver healthy babies.

As an Early Start Specialist I provide information, education, resources and support so that women can experience healthy pregnancies and deliver healthy babies. Being an Early Start Specialist is the perfect position for me!

My Philosophy of Care

I believe it is important to meet women where they are at in their lives; to show respect, to do my best to connect with patients and to communicate with patients and providers. I believe that a team approach to patient care with the combined expertise of specialists is most effective and provides the highest possible quality of care.

On a Personal Note

I have been married for almost 20 years. We have a son who is a senior in high school and will be going to college. We are very proud of him and have a lot of fun as a family. We enjoy outdoor activities and travel. I also enjoy yoga, reading and watching movies. We enjoy time with extended family and friends camping, having a good meal together and traveling.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.
