My Biography

I met some of the Radiology department’s physicians while I was completing my UCSF residency. The Kaiser Permanente health care model made sense to me. Patient needs drive providers’ practices, not financial incentives or insurance agencies. Patients have access to preventative health care information, they receive drug benefits, and they benefit from our up-to-date technology. Patients can, for example, make appointments or refill prescriptions online without having to be on phone hold for a lengthy time. Kaiser Permanente’s system has a lot of upside and potential, and it just may be the wave of the future.

In our department, I enjoy cordial interactions with my colleagues in a non-competitive, relaxed environment. My particular interests point in the direction of MRI. I like anatomy and, owing to its multiplanar capabilities, MRI enables better resolution. MRI is arguably the single most important, valuable tool available in diagnostic medicine.

I THRIVE by shopping at farmers markets, healthy eating habits, and working out at a health club. During my spare time, I like to ski and travel. Last summer I visited the Black Sea and this summer, I’m going to Uzbekistan. I am deeply interested in politics, history, and world affairs. I enjoy cultural activities as well, and I am a season-ticket holder at the San Francisco Opera.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
