Welcome to My Home Page

I would like to share with you my background and training as well as my philosophy about medical care. I feel that it is important for my patients to get to know me as well as I get to know you. Attaining good health takes an active partnership between provider and patient.

About Me

I was born and raised in India. I received my medical degree from Government Medical College, Amritsar, India. I did my internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Michigan State University - Hurley Medical Center program at Flint, MI. Beside English, I can speak Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2003 as a Hospital Based Specialist. I take care of the patient admitted to the hospital along with other physicians in our team. It is a challenging job but ultimately is very rewarding too. I am so proud to be working within this great organization of fellow physicians.

When I am not taking care of the patients in the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am happily married with three kids. I enjoy listening to music of all genres. Sometimes I do try my hand at cooking, results had been good so far.

My Philosophy of Care

I believe that the cornerstone of care is the personal relationship that I develop with each patient. I strive to empower patients to make their health care decisions that will bring best of their capabilities. I am fascinated by two things that are impacting the healthcare system. The first one is the epidemic of obesity and other one is the use of technology for delivering the care. Every day, numerous people land up in the hospitals due to the consequences of obesity. Regular physical exercise, a sensible diet, and a positive outlook towards life are key ingredients for preventing the majority of diseases associated with “modern lifestyle”. Stop smoking, wear seat belts and drink alcohol in moderation only (if you do) can further increase the chances of having a healthy life.

The Positive effect of technology can be daily seen at Kaiser Permanente. It is an ongoing job; you will see more improvement in future. I also encourage you to seek knowledge about staying healthy. The Internet is a great source of information but you will have to differentiate dependable sources from one that are merely pushing numerous phony products and equipment.

I also encourage everybody to keep a list of medicine, their doses and why you are taking it with you all the time. Add your brief medical history and list of any medical procedures done in the past and allergies to it. Update the information regularly.

I hope the above information is helpful and I am always willing to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Select a personal physician - An important part of your health care experience at Kaiser Permanente includes building a relationship with your personal physician. If you haven't already selected one or want to change, click here to choose a personal physician for yourself or for a family member.
