About Me and My Specialty

I was born in South Korea and immigrated to Michigan when I was 8 years old. I developed an interest in math and sciences in high school and went on to major in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan. After graduating with Honors, I spent 4 more years at the University of Michigan Medical School to earn my medical degree.

I completed a year of internship in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Afterwards, I moved out to California for my residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at the UC Davis Medical Center. After finishing 4 years of residency and passing several written and oral examinations, I became certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology. I recently joined Kaiser Permanente as an Associate Physician.

I enjoy practicing Radiology because it allows me to use all the knowledge I have acquired from my studies in math, sciences and medicine. Furthermore, Radiology challenges me to continue my education as it evolves with new technology. As a Radiologist, I serve as a consultant to all medical specialties including Family Practice, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology. I am trained to “look inside” the patient’s body and then suggest, confirm or refute a diagnosis. In some cases, I can provide a definitive diagnosis by performing image-guided minimally invasive biopsies. I find great satisfaction in working with the clinicians to provide the right care for the patients.

I feel privileged to practice Radiology at Kaiser Permanente. I have access to the latest imaging equipment and information technology. Plus, I have the freedom to exercise my expertise without restrictions. I look forward to helping your doctor treat you well.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
