My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am an obstetrician/gynecologist (ob/gyn). We provide care for women's issues throughout their lives. I do well-women exams, offer contraceptive services, deliver babies and do all gynecologic care and surgery.

I chose ob/gyn because I like talking to patients about their health. A lot of women's key passages: the teen years, pregnancy and birth, surgery and menopause can be very stressful but also rewarding times in their lives. If I can help explain things that are scary or complicated and guide them through then I feel I've done my job.

My Practice Philosophy

I feel that women can make better choices if they understand their bodies and care about themselves. I also believe that a doctor shouldn't make decisions for patients, but rather be an advocate and an advisor to help them make well-informed decisions.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2006, leaving a successful practice in the Midwest to move back closer to our families.

On a Personal Note…

I grew up in the East Bay, trained here in Sacramento and was in private practice in Folsom until my husband and I moved to New York for his advance training in urology. We then both practiced in Kansas for 7 years before moving back to be closer to our families and free babysitting for our two wonderful daughters and one very whiny cat.
