About Me

I am a California Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, CADC II, as well as a member of the National Association of Drug and Alcohol Counselors (NAADAC) and have been a member since 1995. I am an oral commissioner for CADAC, which means I am an examiner for candidates who are seeking CAADAC certification. In addition, I am a Certified Gambling Counselor, a Smoking Cessation teacher, certified by the American Lung Association, and I am one of the facilitators at CDRP who teach Smoking Cessation and Tobacco Education. I am also a certified Domestic Violence counselor.

I like being a counselor because I have a passion for the people who come to CDRP asking for help. I enjoy introducing people into the recovery process and watching their lives change and grow in a positive direction.

My philosophy and belief towards my practice is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment. I believe in the value of peer support with on-going, 12 step recovery meetings. I also believe that family support is an essential component for continuous recovery.

I chose this specialty because through past experience, I came to find value in helping others understand the process of recovery and its lasting impact on one's life.

I like that the belief system of Kaiser Permanente is focused on patient care and making lives better. I find the professionalism and ethics of my co-workers to be of the highest quality. It is a pleasure to work with such caring, compassionate people.

Outside of work, I love to read, travel and enjoy outdoor activities such as camping and skiing. I have three beautiful children, whose life choices make me proud and fill me with admiration.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
